Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES
1. General Information

Insight: Journal of Counseling and Psychology publishes original and high-quality research articles, literature reviews, and conceptual papers in the field of education, curriculum studies, and learning innovation. Submitted manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously, and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The journal accepts manuscripts written in English or Indonesian.

2. Manuscript Preparation

File format: Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.docx) using the journal’s official template.
Paper size and margins: A4 paper (210 × 297 mm), margins 2.5 cm on all sides.
Font and spacing: Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 spacing throughout the text.
Length: The manuscript should be between 4,000–8,000 words, including tables, figures, and references.
Structure: Manuscripts should be written in the following order:
Title (English and Indonesian)
Author(s) and affiliation(s)
Abstract and Keywords (English and Indonesian)
Introduction
Methods
Results and Discussion
Conclusion
Acknowledgment (optional)
References

3. Title and Author Information

The title should be concise and informative, not exceeding 15 words, written in Arial 14 pt Bold (English and Indonesian).
Author names must be written without academic titles.
The corresponding author should be clearly indicated, including full name, institutional affiliation, e-mail, ORCID ID, and phone number.

4. Abstract and Keywords

Each article must include an abstract in English and Indonesian, containing 100–250 words. The abstract should present the research’s background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions in a single paragraph without subheadings.
Avoid references and uncommon abbreviations.
Provide 3–7 keywords separated by semicolons (;).

5. Manuscript Content

Introduction: Present the background, research problem, theoretical basis, literature review, and research objectives.
Methods: Describe the research design, participants, instruments, procedures, and data analysis clearly and concisely.
Results and Discussion: Present analyzed data using tables, figures, and relevant discussions supported by recent references. Results must answer the research questions and provide theoretical or practical implications.
Conclusion: Summarize the main findings, implications, and recommendations for future research in a paragraph (maximum 200 words).
Acknowledgment: Optional. May include funding information or contributor recognition.

6. Tables and Figures

Tables should be titled above the table and numbered sequentially (Table 1, Table 2, etc.).
Figures (charts, graphs, photos) should be titled below and also numbered sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.). All figures must be in high resolution and editable. Sources must be included if adapted or cited from other works.

7. References

References must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition format.
Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
At least 15 references are required, with a minimum of 80% primary sources (journal articles, theses, dissertations, proceedings, reports).
References should be recent, preferably from the last 10 years.
Avoid excessive self-citation.

8. Submission and Review Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system.
Each submission will undergo a double-blind peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers.
The editorial team reserves the right to revise manuscripts for clarity, structure, and consistency without changing the substance.
The publication decision is based on originality, clarity, methodological rigor, and contribution to knowledge.

9. Ethical Statement

Authors must ensure that their work adheres to academic integrity standards, avoiding plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate submission. Ethical approval should be stated for studies involving human participants.

10. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their published articles while granting Insight: Journal of Counseling and Psychology the right of first publication. All published works are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) License, allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction, provided the original work is properly cited.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.

    Authors are required to ensure that their submissions comply with all of the following items. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to the authors.

    Originality Declaration
    The manuscript is an original work and has not been published previously, nor is it under consideration by any other journal.

    Manuscript Format
    The manuscript has been prepared using the official journal template (Microsoft Word .docx). The text is Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 spacing, and conforms to the required structure: Title, Author(s) and Affiliation(s), Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgment (optional), and References.

    The length of the manuscript is between 4,000–8,000 words.
    Abstract and Keywords. Abstracts are provided in both English and Indonesian, each containing 100–250 words, followed by 3–7 keywords.
    Figures and Tables. All tables and figures are numbered consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.), have high resolution, and are editable.
    Sources are cited properly for all adapted or reproduced materials.

    References
    References are written in accordance with the APA 7th Edition style.
    A minimum of 15 references is included, with at least 80% from primary sources (journal articles, theses, dissertations, proceedings).
    References are managed using Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

    Ethical Standards
    The manuscript adheres to ethical standards of research and publication, including no plagiarism, no data fabrication, and no redundant publication.
    Studies involving human participants include an ethics statement or approval if applicable.

    Author Identification
    Each author’s information includes full name (without academic titles), institutional affiliation, email, and ORCID ID.

    Copyright Agreement
    The authors agree to the journal’s copyright and licensing terms under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, granting the journal the right of first publication.

    Submission File
    The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.docx) format and includes all required components.
    The covering letter is attached, signed by the corresponding author.
