Publication Ethics
The Journal of Inclusive Learning and Student Support (JILSS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. All parties involved in the publication process — including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher — are expected to adhere to ethical principles based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
1. Duties of Authors
-
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original, free from plagiarism, and have not been published elsewhere.
-
All sources of data, ideas, and references must be properly cited.
-
Authors should disclose any potential conflicts of interest and acknowledge sources of financial or institutional support.
-
Data should be represented accurately, without fabrication or manipulation.
-
Authors are responsible for revising their manuscripts in response to editorial and reviewer feedback in a timely and professional manner.
2. Duties of Editors
-
Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based solely on the manuscript’s academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
-
Editors must ensure a fair and impartial peer-review process, maintaining confidentiality throughout.
-
Editors must not have any conflict of interest regarding accepted or rejected manuscripts.
-
Editors should take responsive measures when ethical complaints are raised concerning a submitted or published paper.
3. Duties of Reviewers
-
Reviewers assist the editorial team in evaluating manuscripts objectively and providing constructive feedback.
-
They must maintain confidentiality and not use information from reviewed manuscripts for personal advantage.
-
Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors and report any ethical concerns or potential conflicts of interest to the editor.
4. Publisher’s Responsibilities
-
The publisher ensures that best practices in publication ethics are followed across all stages of the publishing process.
-
The publisher is committed to maintaining academic integrity, supporting editorial independence, and addressing ethical misconduct when identified.
By maintaining these ethical standards, JILSS aims to promote trust, transparency, and scholarly excellence in the dissemination of knowledge related to inclusive learning and student support.
